A developer needs many resources.

In this post I will be discussing two categories of resources and providing links to websites where one can obtain these resources and information about them (where this is possible).
This article: Time and Media.

Time

Developing good applications requires the  investment of a lot of time.  Time management is important as it saves time in the long run.
This is a resource I have been lacking, mainly due to university, hence my inactivity.

Media

Not every developer is a jack of all trades. Most applications you develop will require a vast array of different types of media, like music, web and graphics.
Just going around the internet picking up media and using it without the owner’s consent is not a nice thing to do, especially if you plan to monetize the application you are developing.

General

Fiverr
fiverr.com – Five dollars for anything
People will do a vast variety of services for $5 on this website. Some come in quite handy for developers.
Great for graphics (like logo’s), soundeffects, voice-acting, translations, story-writing, advice, programming help, short (promotional) video’s, general promotion and many other things.

Prizes
prizes.org – Contest crowd-sourcing
On this website you can submit your own contest with a certain reward for the winner. You decide how the victor is chosen (by you or by vote).
Great for (company) names and logo’s. Generally more expensive than Fiverr.

Music and sound

AudioJungle
audiojungle.net – Envato Marketplace
Awesome website to find music, soundeffects and other audio. Every kind of genre is represented. One-time payment per item (no royalties).

Newgrounds Audio Portal
newgrounds.com/audio - Homemade music
Great website where you can find music made by amateurs around the world.
Note that if you wish to use this music, you will have to look at the license details (often you will have to hit up the artist, especially for commercial use).

Graphics

GraphicRiver
graphicriver.net – Envato Marketplace
A nice marketplace where you can find graphics of any kind, such as logo’s, business cards and other graphics.

Affordable images and illustrations can be found on this website.
